Political Advisor takes up Policy lead at AIC
The Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) has welcomed Ed Barker to the team. Taking on the role of Head of Policy & External Affairs, Ed has arrived at a crucial point for the UK agricultural sector. From a Suffolk farming background and with stints at Westminster, the CLA and most recently as senior policy advisor for the National Pig Association, Ed brings a wealth of experience to the Policy team.
Commenting on the appointment AIC Chief Executive Robert Sheasby emphasised there was much to do, “we are at a critical stage in trade negotiations with our biggest trading partner and with many others who will become increasingly influential. Our sector is facing significant change as the Common Agricultural Policy makes way for a devolved approach. I am confident that Ed will help AIC develop policy alongside members which will ensure we move forward in a positive way.”
“Social and digital messaging will play a big role in how we influence and communicate”, believes Ed, “Lets proactively focus our efforts on those that can influence, lets demonstrate the positive impact our sector can have on the big issues and lets build partnerships and collaborate with other key stakeholders, as together we will have a stronger voice. I am looking forward to representing our members and to reaching out across the sector”.
