Baroness Batters Awarded IAgrE Award of Merit
Baroness Minette Batters has been awarded an Award of Merit by the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to farming and the wider agricultural sector.
The Award of Merit recognises Baroness Batters’ leadership and influence in driving a profitable and sustainable future for farming. She has become a respected authority on improving farm profitability as a foundation for long-term sustainability across the industry.
Baroness Batters served as Deputy President of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) in 2014 and, in 2018, made history as the first woman to be elected President of the NFU. She is also an ambassador for Farm Africa, supporting the development of agricultural and business skills that enable farmers to regenerate land, improve resilience and increase food production.
Although unable to attend the award presentation in person, Baroness Batters’ achievements were recognised by IAgrE Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Nicklin, who said:
“Baroness Batters’ proven record and unwavering commitment to moving the agricultural sector forward make her a very worthy recipient of this Award of Merit.”
In a video message to members, Baroness Batters said:
“It is such an honour and a huge privilege to receive this award. I am sorry I can’t be with you in person, but I wanted to say an enormous thank you to IAgrE for your support, particularly in helping to provide evidence for the Farming Profitability Review in 2025. Your contribution was hugely appreciated, and IAgrE played a vital role.”
