Group turnover falls 5% amid weaker European machinery market

SAMSON GROUP A/S reported turnover of €119.9 million for its 2025/26 financial year, down 5% from €126.2 million in the previous year, as demand in Europe’s agricultural machinery sector remained subdued.

Profit before tax fell to €1.9 million from €3.3 million. The Danish manufacturer said the result included €1.2 million in restructuring costs. Earnings before interest and tax declined to €3.6 million from  €5.0 million, while gross profit increased to €53.3 million from €51.4 million.

The group’s balance sheet rose to €112.5 million from €110.3 million, while equity was broadly unchanged at €51.6 million compared with €51.7 million. Average employee numbers decreased to 578 from 583.

Samson described the performance as below expectations and said the European agricultural machinery market had declined for a third consecutive year. It added that the outlook for 2026/27 remained challenging.

Investment programme maintained
Despite the weaker result, the company said it had continued investing in product development and manufacturing equipment.

“Regardless of the challenging financial results, we have maintained our investment plans in both product development and manufacturing equipment, keeping our facilities updated,” said chief executive Lars Henriksen.

Chairman Christian Junker said Samson’s decline in turnover was smaller than the wider contraction in the market for equipment used to apply natural fertiliser. He said this supported the group’s decision to continue with its current strategy.

Operations across four countries
Samson employed an average of 578 people during the year, including 336 in Denmark, 179 in France, 49 in Poland and 14 in Sweden.

The group operates manufacturing businesses Samson Agro A/S in Denmark, Samson Agro SASU in France and Samson Agro Sp. z o.o. in Poland. Its commercial companies, Samson Agrolize A/S and Samson Agrolize AB, handle sales and service for the Samson and Pichon brands in Denmark and Sweden.

Founded in 1943, the company manufactures slurry tankers, muck spreaders and application equipment including booms, injectors and incorporators. Samson Group has been owned by the Glerup family since 1999.
