Comment – A forward looking statement
I’m not sure what this slightly bewildering pause between Christmas and New Year is really called. Twixmas? Especially with Christmas Day on Wednesday, closely followed by the weekend, it seems like the days blur into one, with rather too much good eating and not enough activity.
Whilst sifting through the inevitable shower of ‘six foods to absolutely avoid/devour in 2025*’ and ‘why the property market is going to take off/tank in 2025*’ (delete as appropriate) I did come across some slightly more relevant and thoughtful pieces for reflection.
The annual refrain of The technologies which will define next year are.. does become a bit tiresome. Yet the drift/shift towards alternatives to diesel does seem to be gathering some pace. Despite a growing recognition by our ruling class that perhaps they are not as in control of the economy or ‘events’ as they might like to think..
Although reluctant to put pen to paper with my own predictions, I thoroughly enjoy those from others better qualified than myself. This one from Power Progress magazine in the States is worth a read, especially the bit about changes under Trump. Have a look.
A little closer to home the sentiment in the business is becoming a more buoyant. CEMA, the European Manufacturers Association’s latest industry sentiment indicator is ticking the needle away from the gloomy end of the gauge for the first time in a while.
Rather like the weather in the States, what happens over there (and to a similar extent across the channel in Europe) ends up over here.
So all the best as we say goodbye, with mixed emotions, to 2024.
Have a Happy New Year.
Andy
PS the battery for the farm side x side decided to expire today, just after 12 noon, of course. So who is about to trudge out with bags of sheep feed on his back?! Typical..
