Comment – Pause for Thought

For the first time, at the age of 54 I took part in a tractor road run. Usually I would sit out invitations, but this was different as it was raising funds for Papyrus, the prevention of young suicide charity. We wanted to remember a young man close to us, and support this worthwhile cause.

As we trundled up hill and down dale (literally, its the Yorkshire Dales) through the torrential rain, I started to think about the other folk taking part, and whilst I often don’t feel I have the words to say, actions can speak louder. It was an honour to take part.

Elsewhere, Bobcat is in advanced talks to takeover Wacker Neuson (Weidemann/Kramer as they are otherwise known in UK ag). The full and developing story is here. Whilst it will give market share to Bobcat, and access to  high tech and high spec products, it will also reduce choice. Discuss..

Another item which had slipped past my radar in the last couple of weeks is CNH’s announcement of a new multi-brand strategy, to save the ongoing market cannibalisation. Depending on the quality of your German, have a read of this. Or press the translate button.

Right, it’s dark here, I’m off to light a fire.

Have a good one.
