Harry West passes away
Harry West (Prees) Ltd has announced the passing of Harry West at the age of 95. Harry was the chairman and founder of Harry West Prees Ltd. He began in 1966 manufacturing agricultural products and machinery suppled worldwide, he was a major driving force in the success of this family company and no doubtwill be missed greatly by everyone he worked with.
Having served in the Royal Navy at the age of 18 Harry played his part in the second world war and the D-Day landings at Omaha beach. A strong athlete he played for his local football teams at Oswestry and Wellington, he was even scouted by Spurs and almost signed professional papers.
As an engineer Harry worked at the Shropshire based engineering company Rubery Owen but all his spare time was spent creating and building his own business. This developed into the well-known business we know today manufacturing agricultural machinery including the popular West Dual spreader and farm buildings. Over the years his designs and innovative ideas with muck spreaders, trailers, and feeder wagons won him many awards and tributes in the agricultural machinery sector.
