Comment – Best foot forward
My sources tell me that there has been a quiet uptick in orders in the last few weeks and a little more confidence for the next quarter or so in the supply chain.
Which is interesting given the headlines, with a buyer for the assets and goodwill of Chafer Machinery being sought at short notice this last week, Plus the continuing rearrangements following the demise of RVT its easy to get caught up in the doom and gloom.
Looking slightly wider though, and despite the low sales in the States and Canada throughout this year, there has been a better ‘Fall’, have a look at the latest update from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in North America. With combine sales up a whopping 42% on last year at the same time in Canada!
This is fascinating as we have already discussed the devil in the detail with the steel and aluminium tariffs being in addition to the whole goods tariffs. I found this somewhat dated, but still pertinent article, which is well worth a read, from a US perspective.
Back to reality here, with the clocks going back and hard frost over the weekend, the heating has gone on, and the log burner has been lit.
I hope you are warm and dry this week.
Andy
