Collaboration Delivers Enhanced Power and Reliability for Self-Propelled Sprayers
Belgian agricultural machinery manufacturer Delvano has strengthened its commitment to efficiency and reliability through a strategic collaboration with Volvo Penta, selecting the company’s engines to power its redesigned self-propelled sprayers.
Delvano, one of Europe’s established builders of agricultural sprayers, has standardized the Volvo Penta TAD883 engine across its self-propelled lineup, including the advanced Euro-Trac 6000 and 7000 models. The 8-liter, six-cylinder unit delivers 235 kW (320 hp), improving torque and power compared with previous units, while allowing for better placement of hydraulic pumps and enhanced serviceability.
“When we evaluated our next engine partner, Volvo Penta clearly stood out,” says Robbe Desmet, technical lead for Delvano. “The combination of power, efficiency, and 24/7 support is something our customers rely on during the busiest spraying periods.”
The partnership extended beyond engine supply. Volvo Penta’s application engineers worked directly with Delvano’s design team, facilitating a smooth integration and providing real-world testing feedback that confirmed performance gains in the field. Operators reported significant improvements in uphill traction and overall machine responsiveness.
Delvano has streamlined its sprayer lineup around the Volvo Penta engine and chassis configuration. Engines arrive installation-ready with tubing, couplings, and hydraulic components, while additional assembly is completed separately to enhance production consistency and simplify servicing.
The collaboration also includes integration with Volvo Penta’s Active Monitoring telematics system. Each engine transmits operating data such as fuel consumption, service hours, and fault codes, enabling proactive maintenance. Delvano’s SprayDay digital platform will connect to this data, offering remote diagnostics, pressure monitoring, and maintenance alerts.
“Partnering with Volvo Penta gives our dealers and customers confidence,” adds Desmet. “It’s a name synonymous with reliability and engineering excellence, and that trust is invaluable in today’s demanding agricultural sector.”
