£18 million machinery order

CHESHIRE, UK – Plant and agricultural machinery hire specialist Ashbrook has placed an £18 million order with JCB, reinforcing its commitment to fleet renewal and expanding its inventory of modern equipment for customers across the UK.

The investment represents one of the largest recent fleet orders in the machinery hire sector and continues a long-standing relationship between the Cheshire-based business and the British manufacturer. Ashbrook operates a fleet of more than 3,000 machines, including tractors, telehandlers, access platforms, dumpers and construction equipment supplied to customers nationwide.

The latest order is expected to support growing demand across agriculture, construction, infrastructure and industrial markets, while ensuring customers have access to newer machines equipped with the latest productivity, safety and telematics technologies.

Fleet renewal has been a central element of Ashbrook’s growth strategy. The company previously invested more than £10 million in JCB equipment, including site dumpers, Loadall telehandlers and rough-terrain forklifts, as part of a programme to modernise its hire fleet and improve safety standards.

For machinery manufacturers, large fleet purchases such as this continue to provide an important route to market, particularly as contractors and farm businesses increasingly favour flexible hire options over outright ownership. Demand for newer equipment with lower emissions, enhanced operator comfort and advanced digital monitoring capabilities is also accelerating replacement cycles throughout the sector.

Ashbrook, founded in 1998 as an agricultural contracting business, has expanded into one of the UK’s largest independent machinery hire operators, serving customers across agriculture, groundworks, construction and industrial sectors. The business maintains one of the country’s largest independently owned telehandler fleets and regularly renews equipment to maintain reliability and operational efficiency.

The order also highlights the continuing strength of JCB’s position in the UK hire market. Recent years have seen several major fleet investments placed with the manufacturer by rental and contracting businesses seeking to maintain young fleets and respond to increasing customer expectations around machine availability, uptime and safety.

As machinery costs continue to rise and technology becomes increasingly sophisticated, fleet operators are placing greater emphasis on strategic equipment investment. For hire companies, maintaining a modern fleet is becoming a key competitive advantage, enabling customers to access the latest machine technologies without the capital commitment associated with ownership.

The Ashbrook order reflects broader market confidence in equipment demand and underlines the growing importance of fleet management, machinery utilisation and service support in today’s agricultural and construction equipment sectors.
