Comment – Its good to get out

Matthew Naylor said ‘Leave your farm every day, your village every week, your county every month and the UK every year. If you can’t do this, think about the balance in your life.’ And he is right*.

This last week, I have found myself toiling in a different field, with another of my hats on as Event Manager for Tillage-Live. Now I am biased, but it IS the best outdoor working crop establishment demo, for a variety of reasons I won’t bore you with. And if you haven’t worked out why, give me a call and I will give you chapter and verse on the subject.

I could at this point bang on about the attendance (it was good), the mood (surprisingly buoyant given the year) or even the weather, which was a complete surprise, as it was bone dry throughout and the kit had a decent workout on the day. But I won’t. Instead I want to talk about how good it was to meet up with friends and colleagues in the industry and catch up.

We neglect our mental health at our peril and we all know people and have perhaps experienced periods in our lives of not being OK.  Given that this year will not be the most sparkling for most peoples businesses it’s worth remembering that we need to look after those around us and ourselves.

So go on, pick up the phone for a chat, go and see a friend and reach out, you will feel better for it.

Have a great week.

Andy
