Comment – the week that was and some time travel

Let’s start with the best piece of advice I’ve been given this week, don’t check your pension value. Indeed, and here’s why according to the Independent.

In other news, your correspondent has been ‘working land’ and in the process has happily traveled back to the late 1980’s,  coincidentally the last time he ploughed. So with some Def Leppard on Spotify and a period 1980’s  red and green auto reset three furrow reversible plough (other colours are available), the collar on the polo shirt was fully extended and off we went! It was great, until I struck the traditional Killington iceberg.

I’ve never unseated a trip leg from its mounting pegs with a plough before, so with some trepidation, I set off to reset, the auto reset..

This did prove a little challenging, then I remembered that I had the number of the manufacturers plough specialist. A quick call, 5 mins of tech support and 20 minutes of wresting with the leg once the tension was off the spring and hey presto! All sorted. Once again I’m very grateful for the level of product support out there, even for my ‘not quite new’ kit!

On the subject of time travel, for a variety of reasons I found myself in Kershope Forest in the Borders somewhere near Kielder yesterday morning watching the second stage of the Carlisle Stages rally. Again I have neglected attending rallies for several decades now, and it was like slipping into a warm bath. A warm sunny day, lots of gravel and dust and a surprising amount of mk 1 and mk2 Escorts. In fact there can’t be that many Escorts left running, so maybe we saw a significant chunk of the world’s functioning population power sliding past us. Whatever, it was good to be back, and not a Tesla in sight.

Aside from the above nonsense, some work has been done, and I have been considering the impact of tariffs (other than allowing DJT to play the market and win), the NFU have some reflection here. And the good old yellow peril has some thought too.

Have a good week, and remember it’s a four day weekend coming up.

Andy

PS Did I say we could do with a bit of rain?
