Comment – Weather..

I wish I hadn’t mentioned the rainfall last week, with 65 mm of recorded rain in the last 48 hours, I’ve had enough now.

Have you kept abreast of the Jaguar Land Rover cyber attack? As of today workers at their plants have been told not to return to work until at least Wednesday, and one young man I know, who is working at a dealership is busy painting, as they cannot access parts for repairs. The press is speculating that it could be November before they are back up and running, plus in the UK there are over 100,000 people employed in JLRs supply chain. Have a look here for more.

The lessons for the agricultural machinery supply chain are obvious, keep stocks of fast moving parts and ensure you are on top of your cyber security, but when dealing with a global supply chain, and working with global brands, with differing systems, this can also be challenging. its not that long ago that international names we are familiar with, such as AGCO and Lemon have had to wrestle with these issues.

I would like to plug the Institution of Agricultural Engineers annual conference, which this year is looking at Will Artificial Intelligence revolutionise Agriculture? If you have a view on this, or would like t be better informed, book a ticket.

Have a good week, its drying up outside now!
