Cross-distribution deal expands compact construction equipment ranges

Manitou Group and HD Construction Equipment have agreed a cross-distribution partnership covering dedicated construction equipment ranges, giving both manufacturers access to additional products and international distribution channels.

Under the agreement, Manitou Group will add compact construction equipment manufactured by HD Construction Equipment to its portfolio. The machines will be marketed internationally under the Manitou and Gehl brands through Manitou Group’s dealer network.

The Manitou and Gehl dealer network will also provide product support and aftersales services for the equipment.

In return, HD Construction Equipment will use Manitou Group’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities in compact equipment to expand its own product range. The machines will be distributed through HD Construction Equipment’s existing global network.

The agreement is intended to strengthen both companies’ positions in the compact construction equipment sector, while allowing them to expand their respective portfolios without relying solely on internally developed products.

For Manitou Group, the partnership forms part of its strategy to accelerate growth in compact equipment. The company says the activity is targeted to contribute approximately 5% of total group sales by 2030.

“This agreement fully aligns with our strategic roadmap aimed at accelerating our growth in compact equipment ranges,” said Sylvain Blaise, President and CEO of Manitou Group.

“For our dealer network, this partnership provides access to an expanded product offering while enabling us to strengthen our position in compact construction equipment.”

Jaeyoung Moon, President and CEO of HD Construction Equipment, said the agreement would provide opportunities for significant market expansion and strengthen the competitiveness of its compact equipment range.

The partnership covers international markets, with both companies retaining their respective distribution networks and brand identities.

The agreement represents a further example of manufacturers using cross-distribution and complementary engineering capabilities to broaden product portfolios and extend market coverage in the increasingly competitive compact construction equipment sector.
