Manufacturing Facility Opens

Spread-a-Bale’s new manufacturing premises were officially opened recently by farmer and agri-influencer, Olly Harrison.

The new Deeside based facility has increased the company’s workshop floor threefold enabling the business to significantly step-up production to meet with increasing demand for its award-winning straw spreading machines, from both the domestic and global marketplace.

Olly commented: “It’s great to see this company thriving during such challenging times delivering exactly what farmers need, a simple piece of kit that does a job with an immediate return on investment.”

Spread-a-Bale chief executive, Michael Hughes continued: “Relocating from nearby Ellesmere Port to the new premises marks a significant step in our business’s growth and development.

“Spread-a-Bale started from humble beginnings on my Cheshire dairy farm 25 years ago when I was seeking a device that could take the hard graft out of manually spreading straw. I went

on to design, develop and patent this unique, simple and efficient machine.

“Since then, the business has evolved by developing five different models with a choice of four different heads, offering a bespoke solution suited to all operations, regardless of scale and livestock species. Spread-a-Bale is also active in the recycling and recycling sector.”

He continues “Total sales have grown to over 5,000 machines through our dealerships, not only within the domestic marketplace but also from overseas, to the extent we are now shipping machines across five different continents to 40 different countries.

“Our new facilities will enable us to roll out our ambitious plans for the future supplying machines to enable our customer mix to improve their efficiency, sustainability and ultimately, their profitability.”
