Comment – Grab The Popcorn
Oh my, what a week, with lots of dealer related activity on the merry go round of the supply chain, see here for some (not all together unexpected) red action and yet more moves in the green and red camp.
As with all these things, the devil lies in the detail, with the accompanying press release being tailed with this throwaway comment “Townson Tractors Ltd and Lloyd Ltd will operate alongside the existing Case IH dealers until the end of 2026, at which point the territories will transfer in full to Townson and Lloyd.” it ain’t over yet and I suspect that we wont be seeing the adjacent current Case IH dealers going to Hurlimann or Steyr just yet.
Those of us who can’t go to the toilet without checking our phones, will, last night, have had a shock when the news broke that the US Supreme Court has ruled that the blanket tariffs are illegal, and they are cancelled with immediate effect. I did take the liberty of pressing the pause button to think about this news. This doesn’t mean that the gates to the US market have suddenly opened, as DJT has immediately applied a 10% tariff across the board. Oh and remember those pesky 25% steel and aluminium tariffs which remain. Watch this space.
Closer to home, with a lot of the country underwater and the rain still coming, I suspect farmers have got more pressing worries in the short term, till the tide goes out and spring finally arrives.
Have a good week.
Andy
