Comment – Agritechnica Part Deux

Yours truly is still mulling over the last couple of weeks, as well as trying to shake off the Hanover snuffles.

So, what is happening?  The bankrupt estate of Överum Industries has been bought up by a Swedish investment firm, Fröjdia and Amlo, a steel firm, so they are back on the road, see here and here (if you are up to it).

Elsewhere Lord Bamford has gone on the record with a fascinating insight into JCB’s drive to Hydrogen, with a few opinions along the way via Farmers Guardian’s recent podcast. Interviews are rare occurrences for Lord Bamford, let alone a podcast, so this is well worth a listen.

One of the most sensible conversations at Agritechnica was with Gregor Dietachmeyr, Speaker of the Executive Board for Pöttinger. We covered the changing fortunes of farming across the world and the consequent impact on the machinery trade.

It was refreshing to hear such a reflective and positive position around the need to offer technologies to improve efficiency and productivity, alongside the focus on developing people and critical thinking skills to serve the industry.

Other conversations aligned around themes such as flexibility, external business challenges (specifically cyber-crime, and energy costs) and considering alternative farming methods.

Back in the frozen north, it’s time to send the tups back to the male dormitory for the next eleven months (if you know, you know).

Have a good week.

Andy
