Comment – It all worked out rather well

Having listened to a lot of naysayers in the last year or so about the Cereals Event heading west to Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, I was pleased to find that rumours of the impending disaster did not manifest.

Traffic flow was acceptable, despite one his vis person stopping every car on the field en route to the southern car park, by all accounts it moved well both days. Yes the weather was a mixed bag, yes you needed waterproofs and wellies, but tell me another cereals site which wasn’t like this in the rain?

What about confidence? Well those exhibitors I spoke with were reasonably optimistic, crops are looking well, and the pubic certainly enjoyed a good day out this last week.

Although the weather was wet on Thursday, many folk had already had a good day on Wednesday, and the advantage of Cotswold brash is that whilst it does turn to mud readily, theres a lot of stone, so you can travel.

Oh and whilst I remember, I would like to congratulate Matt Tilt for winning the Institution of Agricultural Engineers Journalism Award, which he received at the Cereals Event last week, well done Matt!

I’m hopping on a plane in the morning and heading to the DLG Feldtage in Germany, so will report back in due course.

Have a good week.
