Comment – it doesn’t rain (much)…

Let’s start with the inevitable grumbling regarding the weather. August rendered us with 167mm of rain, which is trivial in comparison to the 272mm we were blessed with back in ’21 and contrasts starkly with the 79mm on ’21. So an average rainfall month.

As you can see from the picture though, my oats ain’t ready yet, which is less of a rainfall comment, and more of a wish for some sunshine.. please.

Slightly further afield it’s probably no surprise that Merlo have established a Republic of Ireland distribution business, so that they can support the market better, rather than relying on third parties.

Heading to France, who knew that Michel Barnier, the new Prime Minister (or M.Brexit as we will remember him) was the former French agricultural minister? See https://www.euractiv.com/section/agriculture-food/news/michel-barniers-agricultural-past/ for a bit more history. What a shame Sir Kier’s dad hadn’t milked 80 cows or lambed a few hundred ewes back in the day?

I hope you have a good week.
