Turners Agricultural appointed McCormick dealer for Herefordshire and surrounding area
The appointment of Turners Agricultural Engineers to the McCormick dealer network means farmers and contractors in Herefordshire and the surrounding area now have sales, spares and service support available for the full range of the brand’s models of up to 310hp, suiting the area’s broad range of livestock, arable and contracting businesses.
Gina and Adam Turner founded the family-run agricultural engineering concern, known commonly as Turners Agri, in 2013. From beginnings servicing and repairing a wide range of farm equipment, it expanded into sales of both new and quality used machinery, supporting this by stocking a variety of parts, lubricants and tools at its Pencombe, Bromyard premises.
Since then the business has added a number of agricultural equipment franchises to its operation, including Alpego, Dieci, Garford, Malone, Spearhead and Suzuki. It has, though, been seeking a new tractor franchise for some time, after previously retailing another make for a period.
“It’s a very competitive market, and we wanted to be sure we would be able to offer a product range that could enable us to compete in all the key sectors that are important in this area,” says Adam Turner, explaining why he and Gina chose to work with McCormick.
“Having a product line that covers everything from smaller models to mid-range livestock machines to tractors of up to 310hp with continuously-variable transmission means we can do just that.
“We were also looking for a familiar name that was proven in the market. While there was a gap in the McCormick network coverage locally, the brand is known to most farmers, although they may be unfamiliar with the range, build quality and features the product line now offers. We want to address that by getting machines demonstrated so they can try the tractors for themselves and see how they’re built and what they’re capable of.”
To this end, a 176hp X7.460 VT-Drive tractor has already been added to the Turners Agri demonstration fleet, while a 113hp X5.55 and a 133hp X6.430 have been ordered for stock.
“The X4, X5 , X6 and X7 series, which span 70-240hp, are likely to be where our main potential market lies, but we can also offer smaller models for specialist sectors, as well as the larger X7 and the X8 tractors of up to 310hp.”
Sales manager Dale Gwynne, parts manager Dave Stallard and Adam himself, who manages the service side of the business, have all undergone McCormick sales and service training on the brand’s full product range, and the premises at Pencombe, from where Gina manages the finances of the business, now hosts full parts stocks and signage.
“We are very pleased to have signed a dealership of the calibre of Turners,” says Adrian Winnett, managing director of AgriArgo UK, the UK branch of family-owned ARGO Tractors, which operates five factories across Italy producing McCormick and Landini machines and manufacturing many of the core components they require.
“This appointment neatly covers one of the few gaps remaining in our coverage area. Our whole team is looking forward to working with Turners to get its customers into the seats of some demo models and try the latest McCormick tractors for themselves.”
