Field event demonstrates closer collaboration across tyre supply chain

A field demonstration in eastern Germany has highlighted the role that manufacturers, distributors and local machinery dealers can play in translating tyre technology into practical advice for farmers.

The first Alliance Field Day in the region was held at Bismark-Schernikau in the Altmark on 26 August, with support from tyre distributor Bohnenkamp SE and its partner AGRAVIS TECHNIK.

The event brought together the manufacturer, distribution partner and regional machinery business in a working environment, with four demonstration stations showing how tyre specification and pressure affect machine performance, traction, soil loading and operating costs.

For the machinery supply chain, the format provides an opportunity to move beyond product presentation and demonstrate the application of technical information directly to customers.

From specification to application

One station used an agricultural sprayer fitted with Agriflex+ 354 VF tyres to demonstrate pressure management.

Alliance specialists explained how machine weight, axle loads and operating speed should be considered alongside tyre load tables when establishing the appropriate pressure for road and field work.

A second demonstration with Agriflex+ 372 tyres showed the effect of inflation pressure on pulling force, while a prepared soil profile illustrated how tyre footprint and machine loading influence pressure within the soil.

The fourth station used Agriflex+ 373 VF tyres to demonstrate the relationship between pressure, wheel slip, fuel consumption and operating costs.

Gerrit Vinkers, field service manager Europe at Alliance, says the objective is to help customers understand that tyre pressure is application-dependent rather than a fixed setting.

The involvement of Bohnenkamp SE and AGRAVIS TECHNIK provided a regional connection between the tyre manufacturer and machinery users, with local expertise helping to put the technical demonstrations into a practical operating context.

Dealer support

The event also provided an opportunity to display agricultural and transport tyres and discuss applications directly with visitors.

For manufacturers, working with established distribution and dealer partners provides a route for transferring technical knowledge into the market, while dealers can use practical demonstrations to strengthen their advice on machine configuration, tyre selection and operating settings.

Farmer and agricultural content creator Stefan Vogelsang added an end-user perspective, highlighting the importance of adjusting tyre pressure according to the task and avoiding unnecessary ballast where it does not contribute to efficient traction.

The eastern German event forms part of Alliance’s wider European Field Day programme, which is intended to bring tyre specialists, distribution partners and farmers together in operating environments.

For the machinery supply chain, the approach demonstrates how collaboration between manufacturer, distributor and dealer can support not only product sales but also the technical advice and after-sales expertise increasingly expected by professional machinery users.
