Belgian sprayer company declared bankrupt
Belgian agricultural sprayer manufacturer Delvano has been declared bankrupt. Nearby flax machinery producer Depoortere will acquire its assets and retain part of the workforce.
Delvano, known for its distinctive blue-and-yellow sprayers, had faced difficulties for some time. Founded in 1966, the company had operated for nearly six decades and was due to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.
The receiver said difficult conditions in the agricultural sector had contributed significantly to the company’s problems. Poor harvests and uncertainty among farmers have prompted buyers to postpone investment and new machinery orders.
“Farmers are postponing orders, which is understandable. And Delvano is also being affected by that situation.”
Depoortere, based close to Delvano’s premises, will take over the failed company’s assets and retain part of its workforce. Delvano’s product range includes mounted, trailed and self-propelled sprayers, as well as machinery for horticulture, industry and road de-icing.
